A rainy day in Anakulam and why this should be on your monsoon bucketlist......We visited Anakulam in 2022 Monsoon as part of our Munnar trip. This was suggested by our accommodation and this day trip turned out to be the highlight of our whole trip. The adventurous jeep ride through the forest, the sound of raindrops falling on the leaves, the small and big waterfalls, the lush green surroundings and then spotting a herd of wild elephants taking bath in the river - Anakulam felt absolutely out of the world. It kept raining the whole time and we were absolutely drenched by the end of the trip. But being a Monsoon lover, I could not have asked for more 😇.Anakulam is still less explored and is a treasure trove of hidden waterfalls and unspoilt nature. Even though we had already seen many waterfalls in and around Munnar, the waterfalls of this region felt special being devoid of any crowd. So if you love offbeat places and are up for an adventure, add it to your Monsoon wishlist.

From the hotel balcony, my mom looks out at the endless stretch of tea gardens, mist gently wrapping around them. Below Attukad waterfall roars with milky white water gushing down. She turns to me and tells me with a child-like excitement, "Aani, I feel like I am in heaven". I smile.It’s her first time in Munnar, and I remember that same feeling of awe when I first arrived here during the monsoon two years ago. The thought that crossed my mind back then was how happy she would be, standing in this very place😇.I am so glad that dream got materialised this year on my birthday despite all the uncertainties. We spent 3 wonderful days in Munnar chasing waterfalls, savouring lush views, taking leisurely strolls and spending time together. It was so fulfilling to see my parents happy and enjoying themselves like teen age kids - laughing, asking for pictures and relishing every small thing.For me, success has always been about moments like this: seeing the smiles of my loved ones, helping them experience little joys that once felt so out of reach and moreover making memories that will linger long after. Today, my heart feels so full❤️

Many operators offer day tours for Dieng that you can join. Alternatively you can hire a car with driver like we did and explore it at your own pace.Must visit places (allcovered in this reel):
1. Arjuna Temple Complex - One of the oldest temple complexes in Indonesia, located in the most beautiful natural setting. The temples date back to 7th Century.
2. Telaga Warna Lake - A gorgeous volanic lake that changes colour, due to high sulphur content. You can see the lake bubbling at places.
3. Sikidang Crater - An active volcanic crater with bubbling mud pools
4. Batu Pandang Ratapan Angin - View point that offers gorgeous views of the twin lakes, terraced plantations and overall Dieng PlateauAll the above places can be covered comfortably in 3-4 hours of time.Food:
While you are there, do not forget to try the various potato snacks as the region produces abundant potatoes, renowned for their high quality. Also, try Carica (small pappaya) which grows only in Dieng Plateau.

East Java to Menjangan Island in West Bali National Park - A trip you should not miss while in JavaWe added Menjangan Island to our itinerary after I accidentally stumbled upon it in a blog. We did not have time for Bali on this trip and with all the mountains and lakes and mid night tours, a day relaxing at the beach felt very much necessary. And this tour was one of the best parts of our trip.The island is named after the Menjangan Deer (swipe right to see) seen in the island and is a true heaven for snorkeling and diving. We could see so many varieties of corals and fishes. Its just an hour boat ride from East Java and the views all through the ride are just awesome. See the last pic in the Carousel? That was our view on the way back with Mount Ijen in the background 😇.The 1st picture in this carousel is from the beach in Java from where the boat trip begins (this black sand beach was so pretty too, look at that view!). The island itself is gorgeous and you can either stroll around it, snorkel, take amazing pictures or just relax at the beach enjoying the views. And all this time, those curious deers would not be too far away looking at you. It rained while we were there and believe me I have never enjoyed rain this much at a beach like I did there. Everything just turned a little more dramatic when the black clouds rolled in. It was the dreamiest island getaway.You can also make this trip from Bali.

This sunrise over the active Volcanoes of Mt Bromo and Mt Semeru is a memory we will cherish forever 😇. This tour demanded a sleepless night and a long bumpy jeep ride followed by waiting in the cold for the sun to rise. But at the end this view compensated for everything 🤗.Thanks to our guide @yogayamallo who led us to this amazing view point. He was the one to take this video.

This is the main reason we traveled to Java and this moment here was truly a Dream Come True for me 😇I have always wanted to see Ijen Crater Lake for as long as I remember. Indeed this was the main reason I had added Java to my wishlist. So when I came across this view just before the sunrise, after a grueling 2 hour hike on a steep and dark path, with every part of my body telling me to give up on the way - I just could not control my tears. Being there looking at one of the most acidic lakes in the world with an enchanting turquoise shade and with a dreamy backdrop of partly shrouded mountains, it still felt like a dream. I forgot for a while all the pain and just sat there without proceeding to the sunrise point. There was something hypnotic about this lake 🤗.

3 Airports, a sleepless night, hours of flight delays and multiple coffees later - We are still awaiting the train to reach our destination 😊. We knew this part of #indonesia would be challenging and adventurous. But did not expect the adventure to begin even before reaching our destination 😁.But as they say, everything happens for a reason and for today, I could not agree more. The 3 hour flight delay at Kuala lumpur led us to an elderly uncle from Kerala who had somehow lost his way inside the airport and was separated from his wife. He could not speak or understand any language other than Malayalam and was extremely nervous trying to find his way. Somehow our flight delay seemed to happen at the same time so that we could help him find his family. After exactly 2 hours of running around to seek help and settling them down for their next flight, we finally made our way to our flight in the last minute missing lunch, but with genuine smiles and lot of blessings from the elderly couple 🥰😇So this is the story of our 1st day of travel to a very special place in Indonesia, a place that has been on my wish list for as long as I can remember. Can’t wait to see what tomorrow brings, especially when it is our 11th wedding anniversary 🧡Can you guess where we are headed?

First drive after we got our car and we chose the place very close to our hearts. A temple steeped in more than thousand years of history, beautiful architecture and unparalleled peace.We remember the 1st time our friends took us here and the instant connection we felt. Seems nothing has changed in all these years. It is still a place untouched by the Social Media crowd and evenings still feel as heavenly as it felt the very 1st time. Just that this time we got to experience the place very differently as rains lashed out when we were inside. It was an excuse to stay longer and to meet a little furry friend and strike a conversation with a stranger in broken hindi about his adventures, including one in our home state Odisha. This made me realize why I fell in love with Bangalore, more like Karnataka in the 1st place. There is so much to see, so much still to learn and many stories yet to be told. And this is the story of our 1st drive😇Tell me if you know any such spots around Bangalore where we could spend a couple of hours relishing nature or may be such divine places and we would love to visit. Any suggestions anyone?

First Impressions and a spiritual encounter.....🙏🙏The first time we visited Adiyogi Statue at Chikkaballapur, the experience was somewhat underwhelming. It felt like just another tourist spot amidst all the hustle and bustle and people trying to take pictures and videos. That was almost 1.5 years back. However, recently when our family visited us, we decided to show them something different close to Bangalore. And a revisit to this place entirely transformed my perception. I guess it is true that first impressions are not always the last.The towering Black statue of Adiyogi, amidst the surrounding hills, seemed so radiant and peaceful under the sunset sky. As the chants echoed after sundown, I felt an inexplicable connection deep within, evoking emotions I couldn't quite put a finger on. The light sound show itself was nothing short of magical, with immersive storytelling and creative use of lights that brought the statue to life (see last 2 pictures and you would know). Everyone had the same story to tell afterwards, goosebumps while the show lasted.😇. I knew we would come back here again.Have you already visited this place? I am curious how did you feel about it.

There is so much beauty around us only if we take the time to notice.....Starting off the Himachal Series with these bird pics. Because these little feathery angels brought so much joy to our weary city souls during our stay in the mountians. Every day we woke up to the natural alarm of many bird calls. And the first thing we would do is to go for a morning stroll in our pyjamas with a camera in hand 😄. Even some times the little kids of the village would be curious about the two weird strangers looking up the trees and trying to locate something. One day some of them came to see the pics on camera appreciating and asking if we would come everyday. One of then started calling Sush, camera wale uncle 🤣 and they would wave to us from their school ground every morning. It was so sweet.Now coming back to the topic, we spotted almost 50 different kinds of birds during our one week stay in Himachal. And that too just by looking around the villages we stayed in. Morning and evenings brought so much excitement about which new bird we would see that day. It was so refreshing to watch birds of so many colours and sizes adorning the trees around. We captured a few in camera and some were captured in our hearts.Birds in pics:

3. Oriental White-eye
4. Blue-throated Barbet

We opted for a 2 hour cycling tour where we passed through some of the most scenic paths - River, mountains, rows of Bougainville and at places earthen roads passing through quaint villages and farmlands. Every few steps we would feel like making a stop to take in the views.
